Reading aloud to your baby is a wonderful shared activity you can continue for years to come. It is important for your baby's brain. Reading aloud teaches a baby about communication! This will also introduce concepts such as numbers, letters, colors and shapes in a fun way. During our home visits our Family Support Specialist share books with our families to keep and continue reading for years to come! 💙 #UMHS

We love partnering with families to provide meaningful Parent Nights that foster connection, build relationships and expand knowledge! Our parents are our biggest partners! 💙 #UMHS

Our mental health component is a dedicated team of professionals that work to identify and provide support to children, families, and staff. The Foster Care Advocate Night event was a smashing success! We had close to 50 people in attendance from around the region and there was some great discussion involving the issues of the Child Welfare and how one can get involved in supporting our foster youth. Also, a few community members inquired about becoming a CASA as well! A special thank you to the CASA volunteers that helped out last night! We hope to have another event soon!💙#UMHS

We are excited to be able to continue our car seat program!💙 #UMHS #headstartawarnessmonth

We had an incredible time at the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) state conference called the Impact of ONE. There were close to 150 CASA volunteers, staff and other community members that attended the conference at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Rhonde. Many of us left the conference inspired, and energized and looking forward to future state CASA conferences! 💙 #UMHS

Family Services focuses on the family as a whole and works together with them to help enhance their child’s learning, develop and achieve family goals, and build partnerships. One way this is accomplished is by hosting Family Nights where children, families, and staff come together to learn and grow together. In September, Hermiston Child Development Center held their first Family Night of the school year where they welcomed families with open arms and completed an activity to help everyone get to know each other.
Attending Family Nights is an amazing way to learn with your child and create a sense of community at each site. #UMHS #HeadStartAwarnessMonth 💙
