CASA Director Jesus Rome attended the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Peace March in Hermiston on January 17th. Rome is also the Treasurer of the Hermiston Cultural Awareness Coalition, which organizes the event.

“When I think about MLK and other civil rights leaders, I can’t help but remember and appreciate all the past pioneers that have gone before me and paved the way so I can have the rights and freedoms I have now in this country,” Rome said.

This year, about 80 people attended the march.

The HCAC is one of the longest existing cultural diversity groups in Hermiston. The committee supports diversity and equality in the city and surrounding areas.
