UMHS is committed to serving our mission and supporting our children and families with early childhood care and education, nutrition services, and community-centered programs across eastern Oregon. This remains our focus during this time of transition with the federal administration and any impacts to federal funding.
While this may bring uncertainty as it is an evolving situation, our focus is to remain open, accessible, and serving our communities. We do not anticipate any immediate disruptions to our daily operations. As a reminder, UMHS has diversified funding sources including local, state, and regional that support our various programs. Our senior leadership team is in close communication with our community partners across the state and nationally. We are staying up to date on any emerging developments and will keep you informed as we learn more.

Our parent support group for October will be tomorrow, October 1st from noon to 2 pm and Tuesday, October 15th from noon to 2 pm. We will be making Pumpkin Spice Lattes and serving them with delicious muffins. We hope to see you there at 502 W. Standard Ave Building E.

We have our first winner for the basket giveaway from Movies in the Park Hermiston. We combined the paper entries onto a spreadsheet with our google form entries and used the google number generator to choose a number assigned to each entry. Ashlee from Hermiston takes the 3 Little Pig, Builder basket this week! Two more weeks to go, will you be the next winner?
Almost every town in Umatilla and Morrow County is having some sort of 4th of July celebration today. If you are looking for events in your are check out our calendar or you local Facebook page. It is supposed to be super-hot today and this weekend, so make sure you are staying hydrated. Also be sure to take breaks as need from the heat. Be extra cautious with children who may not realize they are having heat related illness. While sun is great for our mood and health, it can also be detrimental if you get too much. Be sure to wear hats and pack the sunscreen if you are spending extended time outside.

The weekend is ALMOST here! There are so many wonderful things to do in our area. But I really wanted to highlight are amazing libraries this week. The library is not only a place to get books, but you can also borrow audio books, movies, use the computer/Wi-Fi, and every library has a plethora of events happening every month! Signing up my kids for the Summer Reading program every year was always a highlight of the Summer for them as they loved all of the prizes and games that followed. My kids are now adults and still love to read, but I wish I had more pictures of them reading. I guess when the kids are quiet you tend to just enjoy it ;) What pictures do you have of your children reading? Do you have pictures at the library? I bet the your local libraries would loved to be tagged in your Facebook and Instagram posts.
¡El fin de semana ya casi está aquí! Hay tantas cosas maravillosas que hacer en nuestra área. Pero realmente quería resaltar las bibliotecas increíbles de esta semana. We had such a FUN time at our smoothie making class last night! We made 3 different smoothies, but the favorite was the pineapple carrot by a landslide.
Recipe:
1 cup yogurt
1/2 cup shredded carrot
1/2 ripe banana
1/4 cup canned pineapple (drained of juice)
