Dalila Avila (Hermiston CDC)

Dalila Avila is the December 2011 “Volunteer of the Month” for Umatilla Morrow Head Start. Dalila volunteers for about 4.5 hours a week helping in the classroom at the Hermiston CDC Center. She encourages the children to share, she reads and interacts with them. She has adopted the Head Start language and speaks to the children in a way that promotes high self esteem.

Dalila takes initiative and jumps right in wherever we need her. When staff have been ill, she has filled in to help as much as her school schedule would allow. She reports back to the Teachers on what she’s observed. Delilah is consistent, we can always count on her. Dalila has volunteered more than 50 hours in the last 3 months.
