Congratulations Suellen Carter!!!

Teamwork: Suellen is a strong team player. She works daily covering in the morning class as part of her primary duties and also assisting in the PM class, providing lunch and rest breaks for the TA. She works outside of the classroom assisting with class preparation tasks, organizing and cleaning the center. She is always positive and encouraging to children, parents and her fellow staff. We don’t have a laundry facility at our site and so our team takes turns laundering our cleaning rags. Suellen missed her week one time and then did the laundry several weeks in a row to make up for it. On more than one occasion this past month; Suellen has brightened my day with her positive words, especially after a rough day with very active children. On Fridays, when her main task is cleaning, she takes care to rotate tasks so that no one person is stuck doing the same jobs week after week (like scrubbing the toilets).

Leadership: Suellen is a great leader. She leads by example. She knows her job and takes the initiative to get things done without being asked. She is self motivated. Suellen is always on time for work. In working with the children, Suellen is careful to take time to demonstrate to children appropriate use of materials and toys as she verbally describes how things work. She then encourages children to try and provides them with encouragement and support. Suellen addresses tasks in a timely manner. She is responsible for vendor receipts for our meals. She collects them daily, reviews them and signs them. She files them together so that at month end she is able to route them directly to Kim for the month end reporting. Kim has sent several “kudo” emails to Suellen and I for our accurate and timely vendor receipts. However, Suellen has taken this task on and deserves full credit. Suellen is also a model for safety and sanitation. She demonstrates this in her consistent

sanitation of tables and counters in our classroom and in how she addresses concerns about safety and health with the children. She is aware of policies and procedures and follows them well. She does not have a problem asking questions for clarification when needed. She has been a great help to Hector, our afternoon TA who is new this year. Suellen is able to take over the class when I am out ill. She can lead and direct the children in their daily routines and activities and guide parent helpers through the day so that class runs smoothly.

Outstanding Performance for the

Month Nominated:  Suellen loves to take pictures. She takes most of the pictures of our children and our special events (field trips, guest visitors, etc.) She took pictures of all of our fall field trips and put them together in a book, complete with a cover page and title and bound the book so that the children had it as part of their library in January. The children loved seeing their pictures and remembering the special events and seeing their parents involved in their activities. This was such a positive experience for the children, really helping several of our children who have low self esteem. Being able to see themselves in this book made them feel very special and important. Suellen did this activity on her own.

Thank you Suellen!!!
